Basic training 5

A big group and the last embers of winter season were with us today with cooler temperatures.

Just as well because the morning started off not so smooth with our sweeper having a water pipe failure which had him barely kiss the sand and then turning back to the asphalt to head to the garage for repairs. Never the less we did a briefing and luckily there was a back up sweeper to keep a safe eye on the convoy which meant we could jump right into the warmup.

The first 45 min went fairly well and after the break we push our throttles a bit more to keep up with the steadily increasing pace and challenges. Along the way there were a few second tries and one tricky stuck that was handled effortlessly and with grace from our sweeper Zoubier. At one point the dunes really opened up and gave us the perfect opportunity to fly though long sweeping side slopes, reaching some very progressive levels from the whole convoy showing great competence, skill and techniques. The convoy was still warming up and on the odd occasion their training kicked in to do the right thing when gravity took over,  resulting them in following it down to safety then doing second tries in a more controlled manner.

By the time we reach Big Red the adrenaline was really pumping and we were all ready to tackle what seemed to be a monstrous dune for the group, but with good training on theory and practical these fellas absolutely smashed the climbing and team work exercises with ease. Now with good situational awareness and confidence we continued to increase the level even more, leaving fresh tracks that would be difficult for most other convoys to follow.

With a great sense of achievement and some serious off-roading completed we exited on time. congratulations Lesson 5 is no joke and you all made it look easy, even in such a large convoy. Thank you to all and Zoubier for some next level sweeping today.

See you all on the sand soon.
