Basic training 1

A stunning sunrise with temperatures in the mid 20s this morning was a perfect start to Basic training 1 drive for gen 19.

A bit of a late start while we were getting some of our new Fellas and Felicitas ready and prepared with the correct tire pressure. Now that they are more confident with their new tools and familiar with the time needed the next lessons preparation should be much more seamless.

With saftey briefing done we got  into warmup with straight cresting and repartition. A few 2nd tries later the convoy was ready to get onto side sloping lesson which went extremely well, everyone got the hang of it very quickly. After this we ventured through a small technical area and had 1 stuck were our sweeper got them out promptly, after this we had a short break to enjoy the weather, snacks, good company and Maryam’s lovely homemade Karak tea.

After the break the pace and challenge increased steadily with the size of the dunes, our convoy was really starting to manage their diciplines better and we could see the confidence grow. About 2 and a half hours into the drive we double back to the technical area where we had several stuck and second tries, this was a sign our trainees were starting to lose a bit of focus. Our sweeper managed to get them through these tricky situations without any problems.

As we headed to our exit point the convoy gathered a good flow and finished the drive strong. At the debrief it was clear that there are some good development point to work on but that said these new recruits did a fantastic first drive! I am very excited to see their progress over the next few weeks.

Thank you all for joining and for the support from our sweeper Zoubeir and 2nd lead Johann. See all on the sand soon.
