Advanced training 2

This morning’s meeting point was deep in the desert in an area less traveled by many because it can be extremely treacherous and challenging making it perfect for Desert Fellas Advanced Training!

Warm up started with what I like to call eating the worm first and getting it out the way quickly. A very technical area meant some tricky crests, high and oddly shaped dunes. A few second tries as expected and even a stuck but after 30 min of warm up we pushed through to the real training area.

Once we reached the mile long crests hidden far away it was time to get our trainees balancing on tough crests. Practicing the techniques taught in the previous lesson was the main objective, then to increase the challenge gradually. The team managed well and are getting to grips with the more demanding style of driving which is being picked up fast. Their cresting technique is taking good shape.

The last hour of the drive was spent in a one of my favourite spots, even though we have passed trough there a few times before on a fun drives, todays approach and way of completing the challenges completely changed the game and perspective of the trainees. Its not always what challenge you do but how you complete it, finding the right balance of approach, speed, technique and control is critical to make good drivers.

I’m very impressed on their progress today and I can see that they are completely changed drivers after todays lesson. Looking forward to lesson 3 with them. Big thank you to our sweeper Hussam and 2nd lead Malcom, great team work today. see you in the dunes soon.

  2. What an epic drive! This area was amazing and Chef Marc picked some fantastic lines with razor sharp crests and long, winding dunes that really pushed us. Practice and repetition under watchful eyes with guidance and encouragement from the team leader ensured that we all learnt a lot and exited the desert with new skills and more confidence. Thank you so much Chef Marc, Hussam and Malcolm for the thoroughly enjoyable day!

  3. A great drive, thanks everyone. Couldn’t believe that this was only the 2nd advanced training lesson. I feel a lot has changed over the year and the bar is definitely being raised!
