Prospect 2 for Ab Initio 11 group
Today we had a Prospect 2 ride where we welcomed our new members who joined us through Ab Initio 11.
Ab Initio 11 generation is a very good one with lots of talented drivers.
As we are constantly trying to enhance our experience with Dessert fellas, this morning we took 20 minutes to brief supporting teams about new ways of conducting convoys and communicating within supporting teams. Despite that, we were able to meet the plan where both convoys left the desert at exactly one minute at a pre-planned time. Whole training plan was fulfilled.
Before the ride, Expert Tiago gave a theoretical lecture related to the drive. This was extension of Expert ChefMarc’s lecture from the first part of the training.
After that, the drivers were divided into teams and we started the ride according to our plan.
Red Team (Tiago)
Supporting team: second lead Sujith and Sweeper Javier
We started with straight cresting one at the time, after 3 laps the group moved as a convoy for 5 laps without stopping.
Challenge was increased to a bigger dune. This time only 2 laps one at the time and after 6 laps non stop as a group. Third practice on the highest dune and only 1 lap one by one than 5 laps as a non stop convoy.
A few second tries and 8 stucks later the group solidified the technique for straight cresting!
We moved to the side slopes to have fun in the snake trails.
A variety of tracks was chosen to give the prospects a nice experience.
Everyone did very well with a very positive attitude.
Blue Team (Marko)
Supporting team: Senior Gianlucca as second lead, Sweeping tr. Antony
We started the ride a little later, but we were able to fulfill the whole plan and introduce some additional elements that will be useful for later lessons.
We did a repetitions until we got the movement which was expected, after that we moved to the new new challenges. All the drivers did a great job. The convoy discipline was excellent and all riders were safe thanks to good communication. We had 13 recoveries in total but we didn’t loose the feeling of moving. Despite the fact that we were driving in a fairly frequent area, the good coordination made it possible to pass easily through several convoys we encountered.
Luca also got his chance to run a 3.73 km trip in Junior driving style. It was a good opportunity to hear more about DF Convoy Conduct philosophy and try it first hand.
We finished the trip at the scheduled time with a good team spirit.
What’s next Prospects?
Next step for you is to gather minimum equipment. Please check your profiles and contact your seniors for further explanation. Once you prove that you have everything mentioned on the list, you will be getting your Desert Fellas flag and sticker entering your Junior level.
Please share your experience from second part of your training to help us to improve it in future.

I was part of Red team. I have enjoyed and learned a lot today. Thanks to Tiago and all DF Team. The trip was amazing and fabulous. Thanks for the inputs and I shall do the rest of the offroad gear. I also congratulations to the offroaders who had promoted today. Keep going guys 😁
Shukran my friend!
Had a great time this mrng! learned new tactics and build new trust with my ❤️ 🚐. ready for next challenge and hopefully will be able to make it till end highest level 💪. Special thanks to Capt777 😇 awesome instructor
Shukran Habib, thanks for the feedback!
The new prospects on this trip were very good. They understand the Desert Fellas approach to desert driving. There were a few seconds tries (on red team), but nothing silly or dangerous.
Thanks for your feedback and the pictures!
Thank you Thiago, Javier and Sujith for leading us today. I felt safe and in good hands.
Sweeper Javier had to recover my car 3 times today and I thank him so much. Thiago’s advice and remarks on my mistakes were perfect. Thanks for changing my position in the convoy as well. This shows how much of an Expert you are!
Really looking forward for the season with DF. I have so much to learn and I am pumped to attend as many Junior drives as I can to learn.
Shukran Habib!
It was good to see the enthusiasms and cooperation in all the fellas to learn more from a great and fun leader Tiago. A good support as always from the sweeper Javier. Had good fun with side slopes and straight creating. It was a good practice for all the prospects. Latif, I am sure you have some lovely pics of all to share. 😉.
Good job fellas and hope to see you soon in the next drive. Have fun and God bless. Thank you Tiago, Javier and Latif for the support. Excellent team work guys.
Thanks for the excellent drive yesterday! The safety briefing and lecture on the trip expectation was very well done. Repeated straight cresting and sloping gave me the opportunity to better understand how my car handles, getting used to a long wheel base, and gave me more confidence in pushing a bit harder. The route was varied and quite challenging in places so it was great to learn new techniques. Many thanks to Marco, Lucca and Anthony for their advice and support.
Thanks a lot to Tiago, Sujit and Javier. It’s well composed training. Multiple laps in the same dune to practice more & more is really good concept. Tiago used to ask regular feedbacks during break time. It helps a lot for new drivers to share their feel about the drive level, eventually it helps to avoid any chances of incidents due to higher level of drive challenges. I had good time and recommended to my friends. Thanks to Talal for good coverage. Eager to drive soon with you all.
Well done to all and great to see new faces all the time. Hope to see you all again soon in front or behind me, always there to support you all.
Good morning all,
two outputs, two reports (a 100%). 😉
we went up in intensity, between the previous off-road drive which wanted to be an initiation, and this one …
so we are now in the thick of it, moving in the desert by taking several parameters into account.
the exercises were followed by a sustained rhythm, passing from one to the other when assimilated by the majority of the group.
the mistakes of some, helping others … I know what I’m talking about with a recovery, my vehicle planted on top of a dune. thanks again for the assistance! 🙂
Marko counted 13 in total, without having counted them, the most important remains to have been able to attend some…
I personally learned more today, even if the road is still long!
a lot of challenges to face, but considering them with your team is …
meet you soon (on the sand). 🙂
Great drive! It was good to see the confidence building as the drive increased in level. I think everyone had a nice trip and learned more about their vehicles.
Hope everyone enjoys the junior level now!!
As part of the Blue Team, the drive and lessons were a great experience. I’ve learned a lot about my Grand Cherokee and even more about driving it in the desert. I’ve gained much confidence in my driving ability and hope to improve more and more each trip. Thanks Marko for your “no bullshit” attitude and for leading us on the drive. Thanks Lucca for running second lead and also leading us for a stretch. Special thanks to Antony, from one WK2 owner to another, for introducing me to the club and for the assist. See you fellas on the next trip! (Marko, I stopped by Ramy to pick up a hitch pin and gave them a piece of my mind for not including one in the AOR recovery shackle kit)
Thanks buddy, happy to see you back on sand. More good stuff to come.
Good morning all,
how to go to the higher status knowing that there is a planned junior level exit the 20th of March?
output that I can see on the application, but which is locked to me.
I specify that I have the equipment as requested on the listing given by marko.
waiting from you about the update process.
Best regards,
Mehdi (crocodilefish)
Hi Mehdi, please contact any of leaders on Telegram for equipment check, further instructions and upgrade.
Thank you Marko, I’ll do.
“Perfect, next drive one of the leaders will physically check your gear and approve your flag/sticker”,
“Nothing else to do, register next drive on your level and approach one of the leaders to check your gear”
here was the answer from Gianluca Lietaert. 🙂
From the night before, I was so exited to start driving on the sand. I reached there on time though there was a heavy fog on the way to the meeting point. I was on the Red team and Tiago was our leader. we started with straight crest practice from a smaller dune to bigger ones as the team gained more experience. At the we had some more fun driving on the side slopes.
Thanks desert fellas for the amazing weekend i had with you
I was part of the red team as usual it was well organized trip with a lot to learn
I enjoyed a lot
Thanks guys
U r the best 💪💪
