GPS Training 2 Part II
This second part of GPS training went pretty well.
The focus was on navigation and spotlight on trip discipline. We were working on scenarios when second lead had to take over and lead to exit by keeping standard convoy discipline. We managed to put everyone on leading and second leading position. After every bite of trip we had small debriefing with the whole team. Sharing feedbacks to each other is showing us that team spirit is growing stronger and our skills are improving faster. We had one junior on this trip and had a chance to get his feedback as well. Apart from navigating we figured out that keeping trip discipline is not easy as it seems. However, improvement in convoy discipline and communication is improved a lot and we have fellas with lot’s of potential in our group. We missed few guys from last training.
Luca, Mike, Michael, Moudy, Antony, Preggy, Suit, thank you guys from attending and please take a moment and share your experience from today.

Thanks Marko and the other seniors for the support and opportunity to be part of it . It was a great trip and a great learning process. Best of luck to Mike tomorrow 👍
All participants were so enthusiastic about the training that they pitched up more than 30 minutes before the start of the drive. After Mike and I got a quick refresher on the use of the GPS app, we were all given our instructions and way point co-ordinates – and off we went. Each participant got to lead the convoy for 20 minutes, at the end of which he was expected to reach a predetermined waypoint that was about 5 km away. Pretty straight forward. Well that’s what we thought. Depending on how you chose to approach the way point, you could either have a straight run on fairly flat terrain or completely technical terrain that looked like a giant had walked across the desert with bubble wrap strapped to his feet. The spirit of the group was high and we were determined to reach the exit on time, so that we would emerge victorious as a group and Gianluca could save his marriage. Alas, high spirits and determination alone were not sufficient to complete the challenge on time. Only one participant completed his segment of the challenge within the allotted time, but he got penalized for finishing too soon😢. A few stucks and second tries later we exited the desert around 30 minutes past our planned exit time. (I wonder if those were the same 30 minutes spent on my GPS refresher 🤔). Oh, at one stage the sweeper ( who’s name we shall not speak) got so caught up in the challenge he almost left 2 members of the convoy behind. He almost got away with it too, but luckily for them, Marko misses nothing.
This training taught us multiple crucial lessons:
1. How to navigate to a given location while respecting the ability and level of all drivers in the convoy.
2. the importance of good time management.
3. The expected level of communication between all team members.
4. Respecting the role of each position in the convoy.
5. Checking that nobody is left behind 🤫
Thanks Marko for this wonderful opportunity and thanks to my team mates for your support, encouragement and enthusiasm.
Not much to add after Pregyy’s covered the whole trip.
I enjoyed the team spirit and cooperation in the group today, I learned that each member of the convoy’s team has a different task and they complement each other as a team, looking forward to reach this stage of my training in the quest to become a Marshal one day 🙂
Thanks Marko and good luck Mike tomorrow
Well done to all, keeping time and track is not an easy task as we all experienced the last two trainings. Enjoyed as last week every bit of it…
Great morning of training. Lots of great techniques and and ideas shared by everyone.
It is not only the GPS portion that was intensive, but time management, convoy communication, and teamwork were crucial to the group’s success.
Thanks for demonstrating and explaining how all of the above factors must work together.
