Dawn Dasher
The heat was on, and with an early start for our off-road dash from Al Faqqa to Triple Tree, we knew this was going to be a quick-paced run designed to beat the rising Sunday morning temperatures.
Arriving at sunrise, we were greeted by a great turnout and a large convoy. A few of our recent graduates from yesterday’s Basics Training joined us too, making it the perfect drive to officially welcome them onto the sand with their brand-new flags. The atmosphere was relaxed, exciting, and full of good energy as everyone got acquainted.
We kicked things off with a smooth sandy track winding past the farms, the ideal little warm-up. Camels grazed casually on shrubs scattered across the dunes, adding a classic desert scene before we reached our dune playground.
Once the warm-up was done, things shifted into higher revs. Sand started flying, and the dunes were near perfect: smooth, soft, and incredibly fun to drive. It made for a great challenge and the perfect opportunity to carve some fresh lines across untouched sand.
After a well-earned break with karak in hand, we took in the epic views and enjoyed the excellent company before dashing across the egg boxes toward Amir’s Hill. The side-sloping action there was fantastic, and we managed to exit right on time just before a few passengers started feeling a little too overcome by motion sickness!
All in all, it was a great morning out with our new juniors and the perfect way to wrap up an excellent weekend in the sand. A huge thanks to our supporting crew Niall, Sarah, and Darinka for keeping the convoy safe and moving smoothly.
Catch you on the slopes soon!
