Zoomies
This morning, our starting point was pleasantly isolated, with no other convoys in sight. This allowed us to comfortably conduct our safety checks and briefing, as well as admire Darinka’s new FJ Cruiser—an excellent vehicle and a definite asset for off-road adventures.
Once all checks were complete, we proceeded to the Iftar Bowl to begin the day’s primary objective: practicing side slopes. Despite the many tracks left by previous convoys, we successfully located ideal areas—some completely untouched—to fulfill our goal.
We maintained a steady pace from the Iftar Bowl through nearly all the dunes behind the Death Bowl, leaving our tracks on numerous dune faces. After nearly two hours of intense driving, we stopped for a well-deserved break, feeling the familiar dizziness and adrenaline-fueled sweat.
For the final hour, we challenged ourselves in more technical areas and continued to play near the Iftar Bowl. A brief recovery for Ian provided a welcome pause, offering everyone a chance to observe Adam’s professional recovery skills.
Finally, we made our way towards the exit, having covered 70 km—a testament to the convoy’s strong driving skills and ability to operate as a cohesive team.
A special thank you to Adam for his excellent work as sweeper, ensuring the convoy’s safety throughout the drive. Thanks to all members for a fantastic day, and looking forward to seeing you on the sand again soon!
