Autumn Action

The first morning in many months for the mercury to dip below 30 degrees, making this Autumn Action drive an apt title.

With the sun rising behind us, we embarked on our warm-up journey, which felt more like a leisurely drive to ease into the day’s thrilling objective of riding massive bowls. As we passed some local wildlife, including gazelles and camels, and reached a small oasis, the first leg of our adventure felt like an exciting game drive with the thrill of side-sloping and cresting dunes which added to the excitement. After a quick break at the water’s edge, it was time to shift into 4-wheel low and face the sand giants we had risen so early to conquer.

In this area, the terrain immediately contrasted with the early morning, and navigating the towering dune crests definitely got our adrenaline pumping. Surprisingly, we very quickly reached the first of many crazy bowls, which inspired us to push our limits even further. Some vehicles faced overheating challenges, prompting us to adapt our tactics for the next part of the drive.

Here, we sought to find newer limits and pushed our rigs to meet them. Driving through these bowls was an absolute thrill, giving us a taste of the speed, challanges and excitement to come for the rest of the season, as we heard the speed limit on the odometer beeping away while surfing the walls of sand.

With our day’s objectives complete and everyone thoroughly satisfied, it was time to wrap up our off-road adventure and begin our journey back home. An amazing morning spent with excellent company and an unforgettable drive – this is an experience we’ll be reminiscing about all week long.

Many thanks to Malcolm for supporting, Marcin for 2nd lead and Pete and Sarah for some text book driving. See all on the slopes soon.

  1. A dangerously beautiful area with scenic views and pristine sand. Chefs Marc’s lines were executed with pure finesse.
