With winter in full swing it’s time make the most of it and a morning out in the dunes with freshly made pancakes is one of best ways to do it.

With many of us having friends and family visiting for great weather and of course to catch a few FIFA World Cup matches, it was our pleasure to show them some of the best parts of the Dubai desert and spoil them with a local inspired breakfast, Chabab and Karak. So once our safety briefing and morning greetings were done the warm up began.

The frist 2km were a bit technical and had a few second tries as well as a tricky stuck, but after these the rest of the drive was smooth sailing. Choosing fairly easy lines but at a deasent pace we reached our picnic area in just under an hour.

Here we set up breakfast stations with a impressive spread of fresh fruit, pastries, coffee, juice, karak and of course the delicious Emirati pancakes scented with saffron, cardamom, dates and topped with honey. This spot in the middle of a ghaf tree forest was a prefect and peaceful setting nestled between the dunes for us to socialise, enjoying each others company, the great weather and fix a quick puncture too.

Once we had our bellies full, it was time to have some driving fun towards the exit and in this area we have some perfect dunes for long side slopes so we took full advantage. The last hour was very lucky for the convoy and our out of town guests because even though we were only a few minutes away from the city the true wild spirit of the Emirates shone through when we crossed paths with some grazing camels and a heard of wild gazelles.
