The Quiet Place

A early rise for us Fellas to reach the meeting point of The Quiet Place drive, which was just on the outskirts of Al Ain.

The title of this drive was very fitting as there was not even visible tracks on the dunes not mention other convoys as we deflated right in front of some massive dunes just of the the tarmac surface. As the sun was rising we concluded the briefing and started to warm up on these sandy beasts to get the adrenaline pumping straight away. Though the crests were sharp and untouched the dunes were forgiving for climbing high due to the rain and high winds during the week so our progress was quite speedy.

It didn’t take long for us to find some crazy big bowls and rip roar through them, though we did have to stop a few times for a second tries or two because, even at this early point in the drive the summer heat was making a few cars transmissions run hot from the high climbs. This was a good opportunity to stop, take a quick break and cool down the cars a bit before moving on to the next cluster of giants.

An hour and 30 min into the drive we reach Old Lady Dune and enjoyed the big climbs and switches with the fresh sand making it smooth and effortless. Though we were making good time we had to push on to get to even better dunes if we were to finish on time, so we pushed on to an amazing cluster of dunes. Here we spent a good while enjoying the side slopes, big switches and bowls then took a break in the shade of some ghaf trees before pushing on to Nagra.

Reaching Nagra on this day was a treat even at mid morning there was no one else around and very few tracks, giving us the chance to climb to the top for some big switches. The convoy didn’t waste to much time here, we left out tracks and pushed on towards the exit. At this point we had some fellas with smaller fuel tanks top up with their jerry cans but by no means did the drive slow down. If anything we were properly warmed up and continued with some fast paced big switches and crests all the way to inflation point we we managed to exit 15 min behind schedule.

Thanks to Malcom and Haysam for an epic drive, this route is so beautiful, challenging and rewarding and we will be back soon.

We will be back to this area really soon

  3. An awesome drive! The area had some light rain during the night which made the sand soft on top and firm underneath which made it great for the big climbs and we had it all to ourselves. During the breaks we could sit back and admire our tyre tracks which were like an artists brush strokes on a blank canvas

A very quiet and special place!

Truly amazing drive thanks Marc & Hayssam for the memories..and the adrenaline rush!
