Pancake Picnic
Now that the summer heat is here we are starting earlier and on this Pancake Picnic drive we started in an old favourite area just on the boarder of Abu Dhabi.
This drive was all about taking it easy and enjoying this scenic area not to mention of course have some freshly made pancakes. The first hour took us through some nice slopes and a bit of challenging technical areas so for some who needed a little bit more warm up because of being out of the sand a while, a few second tries were needed to navigate through the very soft sand.
We were able to find a beautiful spot in-between a Ghaf forest for our morning break and picnic where we spent a good 30 min. Fresh Karak, coffee, pancakes and cheerful chatter made it a very welcome break, a chance to catch up and make some stronger team bonds. With our bellies full we packed up camp and got ready for a bit more demanding driving.
As we started to approach larger dunes one fella had a nasty stuck that required some winching and digging to recovery him safely. After a quick tire pressure check the convoy got moving again and some a smooth flow was forming. It was an absolute pleasure diving in virgin sand with no tracks for a change and the sometimes tricky technical areas made it fun and switched up throughout.
Just before we were about to hit the bigger dunes in the area with side slopes we had a pop out in the convoy and during the fix the lesson of everyone being properly prepared with the right tools was learned buy all. Now we know why in advanced level driving our safety tools should never be compromised and why its compulsory for the whole convoy to have these mandatory tools.
After the pop out fix we made our way to the exit to finish slightly behind schedule, but before not crossing paths with a heard of camels, giving us an beautiful photo opportunity at the end. Thank you all for a lovely morning and Marko for your great support this morning. see you on the sand soon.
