Basic training 3

Basic Training 3 drive is always very demanding and this morning was no different.

Convoy left promptly from the meeting point to deflation point giving our trainees the opportunity to get grips with the importance of deflating to the right pressure and how the car reacts with fully inflated tires. Once we were all at the right pressure the drive started with a quicker pace warmup and very quickly we got to more demanding dunes with some good side slopes.

Once all our engines were warmed up and our sand legs stretched we proceeded with the first lesson of the day with our special technique on tighter turns and more control of our vehicles. once the dust had settled and a quick tire pop out fixed the pace picked up once more as the challenges increased to the next location and lesson on how to approach larger climbs safely which will come into play during the next few drives.

After a sort break our team entered the dreaded egg box area which is always a great place to get to know the movements of our cars better and start to practice more our techniques on momentum, inertia and gravity. In this area we had few 2nd tries and our team ripped trough it with ease.

The dunes started to open up and so did those throttles but at this point fatigue was setting in, some tricky stucks and 2nd tries later we managed to start really pushing and got to put some of the mornings lessons in to practice. As the convoy was gaining good flow we had another pop out which was tricky to seat back but with a reset got the bead seated properly.

The final 10 minutes of the drive was very smooth in terms of flow and not so much the terrain but our fellas were rocking full throttle all the way to the exit. A massive thanks to our sweeper Hussam who got a great work out and to the team for a really grueling lesson completed very well. Looking forward to fine tuning those development points on the next one. see you on the sand soon.
