Basic training 5
After a week away for Eid break our training resumed with Basic training 5 drive.
This morning the air was thick with humidity and you could almost grab hand fulls of moisture while going through the drive objectives, safety briefing and drive plan but lucky as the sun came out it was more pleasant.
Drive started with a quick paced warm up towards Big Red dune and our convoy has flow like a river this morning, still some issue to work on though and even though improvement are there, trainees still need to sharpen up their diciplines .
After a good 1 hour and 15 minute warm up the Fellas were ready to start climbing bigger dune in the Big Red area. A few climbs and some team work exercises later convoy was gobbling up every slope the Red monster had to offer.
On the way to Chef Bowl at Pink Rock area the challanges increased and at this point some cracks were starting to surface. Some stucks and second tries later, which were handled swiftly by Javier our sweeper, it was clear that following distance and momentum control are some key development points for the next drive. At Chefs Bowl we had a debrief the made our way to the exit to finish a few minutes behind schedule.
Thank to Johann for Second lead, Javier for great sweeping duties, Firas, Malcom, Sven and Foaud for a great dive.

A great drive this morning fellas! we smashed that big red so much the police turned up!
Big shoutout to my AI GEN 16 fellas Firas and Sven for pushing each other and to the whole DF team for their incredible guidance, knowledge and support! Did I think I’d be smashing dunes like this 6 weeks ago…….no way!
After a quite long time away from the desert Chefmarc cooked something special for us.
The moment I saw the amount of sand come off after the shower I realized the fun I had this morning.
Johann & Javier you did a great job.
It was a great trip today. From the warmup to get into it after the Eid break, over the climbs at big red to the drive from big red to pink rock.
A little over a year back I thought about how cool it would be to be able to drive from BR to pink rock. Little did I dream that after only 5 weeks of training this would happen.
Thanks to ChefMarc and the whole DF crew for the effort they put into us and get us to this level. Also a shout out to Johann as second lead and Javier as sweeper helping to get unstuck.
Over the time we see the AI 16 generation coming together as a well working team and it get’s better every drive.
Can’t wait for next week.
