Off-road Discovery Training

Our Off-road Discovery trainees were punctual and seriously enthusiastic about their first off-road drive in the desert.

Despite today’s training training being conducted almost in the middle of summer, the weather was rather pleasant, and the temperature in the shade very bearable.

With all the theory still fresh in their minds, our trainees headed off into the blinding white sands of Al Qudra on their inaugural drive. We were fortunate to have the desert entirely to ourselves as we practiced straight cresting. Our Off-road Discovery trainees expressed single minded determination as they attempted each of today’s challenges. Initially, there was a hint of hesitation which resulted in a stuck and a few second tries, but it was perfectly acceptable for this drive level. After multiple repetitions of straight cresting dunes of various heights and shapes the trainees started to connect with their vehicles and gain an appreciation for the technique that was being taught.

About 40 minutes into the drive, our trainees found their sand feet and the convoy started to move like a coherent group as they gracefully meandered through soft sand. Challenges that seemed daunting earlier in the drive were successfully traversed without hesitation. It was truly encouraging to see so much improvement in just one short drive.

Congratulations to our Off-road Discovery trainees on successfully completing your first desert off-road drive. Thanks to Johann (SL) and Zoubeir (SW) for the remarkable support no today’s drive.
