Fellas were lined up at the meeting point before sunrise getting prepped for Sand Skimmers drive.

After a quick coffee and safety briefing this small convoy got moving 15 min before shedule. Because we were all at offroader level once warm up and quick kenetic recovery was out the way, level increased. We came to this area to explore and find some bowls so before long our cars were speeding horizontally against the vertical sand walls skimming the edges.

Finding some fresh trackless dunes was not easy but we had the desert to our selves this morning, and took full advantage taking multiple lines and directions on each bowl while increasing the challenge with every pass.

Soon we headed up to Fossil Rock and could see a family that looked like they needed help so made our way to them. They had a pop out and we managed to fix it for them very quickly, also taking the time to educated the drivers that coming to the desert unprepared and alone is irresponsible, especially when you bring the whole family. They were very greatfull and we escorted them to a safe area.

After quick break to take in the view convy made our way to larger dunes and really pushed our selves at Faya area with some big climbs, bowls and epic cresting makingĀ  the last 30 min of the drive an absolute high light of the day.

Trip finished 5 min before schedule and after 70km. Thank you Anders and Johann for excellent drive, catch you on the sand soon .

  1. As always a great day out with the Marshal at the helm. I was the last of our small convoy to arrive only to realize that I forgot my radio and that my spare “emergency” radio was flat. Both Marc and Anders had a spare one showing how well DF are prepared for the drives, if one member slips up there is always someone with backup ensuring that the drive can continue safely.

The last time I was in this area was Junior lvl 4 and I was bombarded with memories of that drive as we traversed the same area. We drove one of the bowls that scared the living sh*t out of me back then and got to really enjoy the lines yesterday.

The small convoy ensured a high pace with very few interruptions going long stretches with radio silence and just enjoying the roller-coaster MasterChef was taking us on.

Thank you guys as always, now just one long week before we get to do it again inshallah.
